I had a mixed experience at this hotel. While the staff were warm and welcoming, and my room was spacious and very clean, there were some drawbacks. The breakfast choices felt overly restricted, and the overall feel of the hotel was a bit dated. The location, being a bit far from the main city attractions, made it a bit inconvenient for walking around, but the ample parking was a plus.

Rooms
7.0
The room was sizeable, clean, and offered a comfortable bed. However, the bathroom was quite small and had a sliding door that continually rolled open.
Service
9.0
The staff were very nice and helpful, making for a pleasant experience.
Location

The hotel is a bit of a walk from the lively city center, which was somewhat inconvenient.
Dining

The breakfast was good but lacked variety, with strict rules around orders that could be frustrating.
Facilities

7.0/10

I had a comfortable stay at Eliza’s Manor, which felt unique compared to other places I've stayed on my travels. The location was convenient, with easy access to central Christchurch; however, the breakfast policy was a bit restrictive for my taste. While the room was comfortable and well-equipped, I did experience some noise from the main road.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was quite comfortable and had everything I needed, though the noise from the main road was more noticeable than I had hoped.
Service

The service was generally good, with staff being very helpful in providing local recommendations, though there were some issues with the coffee service during my arrival.
Location
9.0
The location was perfect for walking into the city center, with various dining options nearby, making it very convenient for exploring.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast experience was satisfactory but felt limited as I would have preferred more variety, particularly fresh fruit alongside a cooked option.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel had lovely gardens and charming character but missed out on some attention to detail regarding basic amenities.

I had a lovely stay in this beautiful old house, featuring a stunning kauri wood staircase and spacious rooms. My bed was incredibly comfortable, and the breakfast muesli was a highlight. The staff were exceptionally helpful, and it’s just a short stroll into the city center. On the downside, the breakfast choice could have been broader, and there were some minor issues with room maintenance.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with beautiful furnishings, although some maintenance issues were noted, like mold in the shower.
Service
8.0
The staff were really friendly and helpful, providing great advice on local attractions. However, I had a bit of trouble accessing the hotel at night due to the locked door situation.
Location
9.0
It’s conveniently located within walking distance of central Christchurch and numerous restaurants, making it easy to explore the area.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was good, but I would have preferred more options. The limited fruit selection and forced choice between different breakfast styles were disappointing.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel has a charming old-world character, but the lack of a fridge in the room made it a bit inconvenient for storing items.

Eliza's offers a charming atmosphere with a beautiful building and great hospitality from the manager and staff. The rooms are warm and comfortable, but the overall experience felt a bit overpriced for what was offered. I appreciated the potential of the place, yet there were some disappointing aspects like the lack of inviting common areas and amenities that could enhance the stay.

Rooms
8.0
The room was warm, comfortable, and quiet, providing a lovely retreat. However, I felt the furnishings could be improved to match the character of the building.
Service
9.0
The manager was incredibly hospitable and attentive, truly going above and beyond. However, some services were not as accessible or welcoming as I expected.
Location
9.0
The location was nice, within a short walking distance to many restaurants and parks, making it convenient for exploring the area.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was adequate but could use a wider variety of options to really impress.
Facilities
6.0
While the building has immense potential, I found the facilities somewhat lacking, with the guest lounge and bar closing early and not feeling inviting.
